A winery tycoon game with real winegrowing behind it

Vineyard Architect is a deep design-and-operate tycoon sim for people who like their strategy games patient and real. You are the vintner and the estate owner: where to buy, what to plant, when to pick, when to sell, and when to hold a great vintage back for years. Every call is yours.

Vines give their first crop in year three and reach full quality around year ten, and wine ages for years in the cellar, so several vintages are always in flight at once. Weather is the great risk. The same block makes a different wine every year.

Terroir

Buy land in 52 real wine regions

Browse a world map of 52 real wine regions in 19 countries, from the slate slopes of the Mosel to Napa, Barossa, Rioja and the Douro. Every site shows its climate, soil, slope, frost risk and the grapes that suit it best. Land runs from $300,000 to $2.4 million, and southern-hemisphere seasons run six months apart.

Design

Design the vineyard on the real slope of the hill

Draw your blocks on a contour map, and each one takes its own slope, aspect and elevation from exactly where you place it. Choose the trellis, row direction and vine spacing, then build a tasting room, crush pad and barrel hall, plus frost fans, irrigation, drainage, fencing and roads. Not sure where to start? Tap Suggest and a ready-made block appears.

Plant screen ranking grape varieties for your sites: Assyrtiko, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Nebbiolo and Syrah with match scores

Grapes

Match 46 grape varieties to the ground

Every variety is scored against your site's heat, cold, soil and disease pressure, best fit first. The sun-facing shoulder suits a different grape than the frost hollow below it. Plant Riesling on the slate, Malbec at altitude, or take a gamble on a grape the site doesn't love.

Vineyard Architect FAQ

Is Vineyard Architect free?

Yes. Vineyard Architect is free to download and play, with every system switched on, on up to two vineyard sites. A one-time purchase unlocks unlimited sites, buying wineries, larger loans and going public. There is no subscription and there are no ads.

Do I need to know about wine to play?

No. Every number comes with an explanation, so you learn real winegrowing as you play. Tap a term like heat niche or bunch rot to see what it means and why it matters.

How long until my vineyard makes wine?

New vines give their first crop in year three and reach full quality around year ten. At 1× a game year takes about six minutes, and at 25× about fifteen seconds. Time only moves on the Grow and Ops screens, so you can design and plan with the clock stopped.

How realistic is Vineyard Architect?

It uses 52 real wine regions in 19 countries and 46 real grape varieties. Every block takes its slope, aspect, elevation and soil from where you draw it, seasons follow the hemisphere, and vines, vintages and cellar ageing follow real timescales. Region and grape names are real; the wineries in the game are fictional.

Is Vineyard Architect on Android or PC?

Not at the moment. Vineyard Architect is made for iPhone and iPad and requires iOS or iPadOS 18 or later.

Do I need an internet connection to play?

No. The simulation, the world map and every region run on your iPhone or iPad, with no account or sign-in. A connection is used for Game Center and the one-time purchase, but you don't need one to play.

Can I play the same game on iPhone and iPad?

Saves stay on the device you play on, with three save slots. The one-time unlock restores on any iPhone or iPad signed in to the same Apple Account.

Can I pause the game?

Time only runs on the Grow and Ops screens, and it stops by itself whenever a decision is waiting. You choose the pace, from a quarter speed up to 25×.
